1ST Quarter_Week 4_Discussion Q2

 Situation No. 2

Erica is a Grade 11 student. Although she is quite plump, she is undeniably pretty. Since she is sociable, she became popular and gained a lot of friends in school. She is just an average student but having a crush on her Top one classmate urged her to spend late nights studying to keep up with him. However, all her efforts still fell short and she did not make it to the cut of students with honors. Because of this, she developed an eating disorder that caused her to lose huge weight. She also started to have breakouts. With these, the then friendly Erica became aloof and self-conscious.

Comment:

It can be very discouraging to see how little Erica's self-love and self-worth is. Her thoughts of how she is not good enough along with her skewed body image have caused her to plunge into the world of eating disorders. Her breakouts only added more reason to her piteous self-loathing. It makes my heart ache to see people's image of themselves be so bad that it affects every aspect of their life. If this continues, I fear that the health implications she might face from her ED would become irreversible. Not only that, but her social life might also get damaged to the point of no return.
